No rest for Kate after Gold Logie win
She had most to celebrate, but instead Gold Logie winner Kate Ritchie was up bright and early on Monday interviewing other stars recovering from Sunday night’s Logie Awards.
Ritchie won the Gold Logie for the most popular TV personality for a second year running on the basis of her 20 years with the Seven Network’s Home and Away.

She has now moved on from Home and Away to breakfast radio, which meant she was on the other side of the microphone early Monday morning with Nova 969 co-presenters Merrick and Rosso.
The trio hosted the show from Ritchie’s hotel room at Melbourne’s Crown Entertainment Complex, where Sunday night’s 50th Logies was held.
But Ritchie did take time to reflect on her Gold Logie and on the Silver Logie she won for most popular actress.
“I can’t quite believe it’s all over, it’s been a whirlwind 48 hours,” she said.
“You talk about it approaching for so long, and before you know it, the Logies are over for another year.
“It’s nice to be home now.”
Not all in the industry were happy with the Logies ceremony, with mutterings about the lack of a single host and the use of guest presenters, and grumblings that there were not enough performances during the show.
Not surprisingly though, Ritchie thought the show was refreshing.
“There has been a lot of chatter, but I kind of liked the fact that it didn’t (have a host) because you didn’t know what you were going to get next,” Ritchie told AAP.
“It wasn’t predictable.”
Sunday night’s ratings figures were down from previous years.
An average of 1.5 million Australians tuned into the ceremony on the Nine Network. Last year the event grabbed 1.72 million.
More chose to watch the red carpet arrivals, which scored 1.57 million.
Among other criticisms of the show was the lack of big international stars.
Irish pop group Westlife were the headline performers.
But for Ritchie, the highlights included satirist John Clarke being inducted into the hall of fame, and the So You Think You Can Dance performers.
“He’s obviously had a very long career, and I didn’t know half of what he’d achieved,” Ritchie said of Clarke.
Chris Lilley’s performance as Mr G, from the ABC’s comedy award winning program Summer Heights High, was considered another highlight, although Ritchie missed most of it because she was backstage.
But with every big night, there’s always the “oh, what did I say” moment, and Ritchie was no exception.
She was embarrassed by her Silver Logie speech, saying it was woeful.
“I was under prepared for that .. I think I did a number on it.”
